ARISTO is a portuguese magazine focused mainly on
architecture and promoting sustainability. It covers topics such as interior
design, urban design, product design and landscape architecture. The main
goal is to learn about the work of several national and international studios
and architects that use and work with sustainable and environmentally friendly
materials. Its periodicity is quarterly, resulting in a total of 4 magazines per year.
The idea was based on a hybrid object, composed with different elements in its
composition: square for technical drawing, graduated ruler and protractor scale.
This project was created within the curricular unit of Art Direction,
inserted in the first year of the master in Graphic Design and Editorial
Projects of the faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (February 2022)
with Luísa Lino, Maria Carneiro and Rita Silveirinha. It is only for recreational
and academic purposes.
The grid shown on it’s cover and it’s color are the only elements that change
in each new edition, however, the titles presented in the cover will always be
in the same spaces inside the grid. Because the magazine is quarterly,
we chose to rotate the grid 90º in each issue, clockwise.
Thus, in the laast edition of the year, the grid will complete a 360º turn.
Regarding color, each edition will present a color on the cover that
is dominant in the set of images presented the whole magazine.
